**Overview**
SOSi is seeking Spanish Linguists in Chicago, IL to support our federal law enforcement customer. The Spanish Analytic Linguist will provide operational support to support linguist and translator duties as assigned by the PMO. The role will involve providing live monitoring, translation, transcription, and interpretation support for our customer's ongoing and upcoming investigations. **Essential Job Duties**
+ Monitor live communication and listen to or read foreign language communications lawfully intercepted, and perform immediate verbal summaries, then subsequent written or typed summaries into the English language.
+ Transcribe audio/video and written communications to and from source language to English as required.
+ Interpret consecutively or simultaneously to and from source language to English as required.
+ Validate by reviewing other's original translation, transcription, or the quality control review of the specified original work in order to attest to the accuracy of the final work.
+ Summarize by providing concise and accurate synopsis of oral or written communications.
+ Provide reliable, accurate gist's and summaries of intercepted communication to law enforcement officers.
+ Attend federal and state legal briefings, known as Title III minimization, prior to the beginning of any new investigation.
+ Assist law enforcement officers in the preparation of evidence and investigation summaries for the possibility of federal or state trials.
+ Serve as a "fact" witness in federal or state court when subpoenaed to testify.

Job Description
The Language Interpreter will:
* Provide interpretation for patients, caregivers throughout the SRAlab System of Care to ensure patients receive full benefit of treatment.
* Translate clinical and procedural documents by providing an oral translation into the language of the patient
* Translate written documents.
* Assist employees in understanding cultural differences and how language barriers may impact patient care.

Piedmont Global is looking for Freelance Interpreters for IN -PERSON educational interpreting in the following locations (This is NOT for remote work):
Locations: Northern and Northwest Suburbs of Chicago: Palatine, Highland Park, Rockford.
Languages: From EN<>All Spoken Languages. (Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Hindi, Telugu, Bulgarian, Tamil, Urdu, and Mandarin interpreters are strongly encouraged to apply.)
These are “1099” (Independent Contractor) positions with the interpretation to take place on site (OS).
Interpreter Functions:
• Serve as an Interpreter between a wide range of people with diverse voices, accents, speaking tempos and personalities.
• Provide parties with clear and exact interpretations of verbal communication with no additions or omissions.
• Provide interpretations of questions, answers, statements, arguments, explanations, and other forms of verbal communication.
• Render sight translations of documents and other written materials, as needed.
• Impart thought, purpose, spirit, emotions, and tone of speaker from source language into target language, and vice -versa.
• Inform relevant parties of any factor that may hinder your performance.
• Comply with applicable ethics and standards.
Requirements
• Hold a valid driver's license, or any government -issued valid form of identification.
Minimum Qualifications:
Interpreter MINIMUM qualifications (non -medical settings):
• At least two (2) years of interpreting experience, paid or as a volunteer
• Two (2) relevant professional references that can vouch for the candidate's work as an interpreter OR one (1) relevant professional reference and one (1) relevant professional letter of recommendation
• Native -level proficiency in English and another language.
Medical Interpreter MINIMUM qualifications (medical settings):
• Certification as a medical interpreter from a 40 -hour program or equivalent, specifically for medical interpreting (i.e., CHIT Community Healthcare Interpreter Training)
• At least two (2) years of interpreting experience, professionally paid or as a volunteer, in a healthcare setting
• Two (2) relevant professional references that can vouch for the candidate's work as an interpreter OR one (1) relevant professional reference and one (1) relevant professional letter of recommendation.
Desired but not required:
• University degree in Interpretation
• Certificate of professional interpreter training (at least 40 hours of training).

• Test results from other organizations (testing centers, other LSPs, etc.).

JOB SUMMARY: The LANGUAGE Translator / Interpreter acts as a liaison between the school/district and families. He/she takes an active role in providing language translation, both in oral and written form, for the students and families in primary language to/from English across various settings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Interpret for parent conferences, parent meetings, and Special Education meetings.
Translate written and/or classroom materials for parent(s), student(s), and the school and/or district.
Translate oral and written communication from both LANGUAGE to English and English to LANGUAGE.
Perform intake interviews with parents for new students to the district/school.
Assist students and families with registration, enrollment procedures, information regarding health education, immunization requirements and other community services
Provide information and answer questions about the school district and the bilingual program.
Maintain confidentiality.
Carry out any other duties as assigned by the building and/or district administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Associates degree preferred but not required
EXPERIENCE:
Experience and ability to work with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
Experience working with students in a school setting preferred, but not required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Fluent in French and English
Knowledge of schools and education terminology
