Education and/or Experience

Application knowledge and experience in word processing (Word), spreadsheet applications (Excel), presentation software (PowerPoint), Internet, and e-mail is preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Cruise Line TechnicianAssistant must be mechanically inclined, and able to follow technical and routine directions. This individual works directly with our boat technicians who are responsible for maintaining and repairing our Cruise Line Boat Fleet. Our historical fleet requires a team capable of maintaining the many and varied systems on each boat. Having the capacity to host a sit down dinner party for almost 100 people the systems on our boats include generators, kitchens (galleys), restrooms( heads), full bars, air conditioning and heat. Off season work involves equipment upgrades, extensive work on the propulsions systems with CAT diesel engines, transmissions and propeller systems. Basic knowledge of 12 volt DC and 110 volt AC a plus but not necessary.
Daily tasks may be varied, but would generally include:
Assist our current staff of technicians in final check over and running of engines
Checking for proper oil levels
General maintenance of fleet
Emergency repairs

What your day-to-day as a Mechanical Technician III at Fermilab will look like:

Purpose Participate in on-the-job training assisting service technicians in basic service tasks to learn key skills for a future technician position, with the plan of completing a degree or certificate through an accredited program focused on fundamentals and key technical concepts.
Responsibilities
Assist experienced technicians to gain technical expertise
Learn and perform basic service tasks as assigned
Develop an understanding of labor efficiencies and meet labor efficiency goals
Develop an understanding of the service department operations and how key systems for the role are utilized
Develop skills in removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of components
May perform pre-delivery set-up and inspection on new and used equipment
Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders
Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on time submittal of information
May participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities
Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
Perform various functions around the location such as location maintenance, washing of equipment, or other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in learning methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of ag equipment - in addition to off road, construction, lawn, and heavy equipment
Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes
Experience with basic computer functions
Experience working cooperatively in a team environment
Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing
Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities, or knowledge that you must obtain the necessary tools for school. Discuss with manager specific tool needs
High School Diploma, GED, or in the process of obtaining either
Valid driver's license required
