The Office of the Kansas Attorney General (OAG) is accepting applications for a LegalAssistant in our Consumer Protection and Antitrust Section of our Public Protection Division to work in support of our mission to protect the safety and security of Kansas families. This position is responsible for working with up to eight attorneys on various types of civil cases and compiling and analyzing statistical and management reports. Duties include, but are not limited to:
PRIMARY DUTIES
* Provides support to attorneys on civil matters related to consumer case files
* Drafts briefs, pleadings, correspondence, reports and other documents at the direction of an AAG
* Responds to consumer phone calls, emails, letters and other communication
* Prepares and maintains case files in digital form
* Assists AAG with case preparation for hearings and trial
* Maintains the electronic case management database and file management system (LawBase and iManage)
* Reviews data in LawBase for completeness of information, verifies that iManage and LawBase are accurate and complete, and reconciles inconsistencies
* Extracts data from LawBase for case tracking and statistical reporting purposes; produces reports and statistics analyzing data on trends and achievement towards goals
* Assures information is accurate and performs analytical computations necessary to process data
* Prepares motions, orders, and other documents filed with the court
* Accurately files documents into document management system (iManage) to ensure proper retention and efficient access when needed; assists with the organization of the document management system

How You'll Make a Difference
As an ambassador for our organization, the Probate Specialist establishes relationships with Evans & Davis clients built on trust, respect, and genuine care during a family's most difficult moments. You'll provide necessary client communication and administrative support to attorneys, case managers, and staff-serving throughout the client journey with compassion and efficiency.
Your Job Description
Initiate, maintain, and respond to client communication by phone, email, and text message throughout the client's probate journey;
Coordinate with clients to schedule and confirm all in-person and virtual meetings;
Collect, audit, organize, and prepare documents for all meetings;
Create, edit, and manage client files with provided information for physical and digital systems;
Regularly update information in Lawmatics, the firm's CRM tool-update matter stages, ensure assigned tasks are accurate, and save all relevant email communication to files;
Update and maintain attorney calendars;
Receive and scan all mail for clients and distribute accordingly;
Answer client phone calls to answer general questions, as needed;
Perform final audit of client file, ensuring accuracy;
Provide general administrative assistance, including booking conference space and scanning documents, and;
Work collaboratively as an important member of the probate team, providing assistance and client coverage as necessary.
