Set the example for safety excellence by holding yourself, as well as all employees accountable for total compliance to all the above. Fully leverage the power of performance management to achieve all mill performance goals. Lead and support HWLs, as needed, the completion of workplace safety assessments. Work directly with operations and maintenance personnel, and through the area HWLs to proactively mitigate workplace risks to a level that is as low as reasonably practical. Directly lead and / or work with and through the mill HWLs to accomplish all applicable safety and environmental training. Possess leadership skills including the ability to communicate a direction and expectations, to lead by example, recognize exceptional performance, deal with non-performance, and understand when and how to involve people, leverage processes, and manage equipment effectively. Supervise the effective training of people, both through the HWLs and through one-on-one guidance. Provide direction and assignment of work through the HWLs. Counsel, appraise, and provide corrective and disciplinary action, as necessary within provisions of the Labor Agreement and any officially signed MOUs. Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred. Three to five (3-5) years experience supervising in a union environment preferred.
