Job Summary:
Each day starts with a trip to the Superior Post Office to pick up faculty and staff mail/packages. We then sort mail at the Service Center. Campus is currently divided into two delivery routes depending on student staffing each semester. On each route we deliver mail/packages/paper stock to specified locations on campus, including Barkers Island/NERR. There may be instances where we need to drive to other locations in the Duluth/Superior area.
Throughout the day we keep an eye out for UPS/Speedee/Fed Ex and other deliveries to the Service Center where we inspect and log in items as they arrive.
Letter mail/packages are generally processed for USPS. We also utilize UPS and Fed Ex for outbound parcel shipping.
Exact duties for student staff will vary based on the time of day worked and what our goals are for that time of each day.
Students are required to drive campus vehicles for deliveries and must have a valid US driver's license (non-probationary) and pass the requirements for UWS drivers' authorization. Job Duties:
Follow all applicable laws for safe driving when utilizing campus vehicles
Accurately sort mail and log in packages so they are routed to the correct locations on campus.
Process USPS mail on our metering machine

Inspect inbound freight as it arrives and determine what staff member to notify so appropriate means of delivery can be determined. We work with the campus Grounds crew for delivery of larger items.

DEFINITION
The Clerk III is an advanced level clerical classification that performs increasingly varied and responsible clerical duties, and related work as required. The incumbents of this classification normally function as lead workers to Clerk I-IIs, entry level Account Clerks and other comparable clerical classifications. Education, Training and Experience:
Must have any combination of training and experience that is equivalent to High School graduation and two (2) years of increasingly varied and complex clerical responsibilities, and demonstrate knowledge of electronic information processing equipment. For some positions, preference will be given for experience with processing and indexing legal records and following procedures prescribed by related State statutes. General computer, data entry and bookkeeping experience is preferred.
Required Testing:
Individuals who meet the minimum qualifications must also pass a Microsoft Word, Excel and Language Arts test with 70% accuracy.
