1. Construction Management
Acquire and maintain a clear understanding of the Client's network fiber infrastructure requirements regarding budget, quality, and schedule.
Advise the Client and issue notices as needed related to procedures and contract requirements.
Maintain three core construction management tools:
Action Item Log - track key actions, ownership, and deadlines.
Milestone Management Log - extract and manage critical schedule milestones.
Procurement Log - track OFCI/owner-furnished equipment, materials, and delivery timelines.
Build strong relationships with architects, engineers, consultants, and vendors to ensure alignment on goals, constraints, and project priorities.
Support phased growth into the facility (telecom equipment, layouts, expansions).
Partner with Superintendents to promote and maintain a strong safety culture and ensure vendors implement behavioral-based safety programs.
Review the master schedule for realistic lead times and advise on constraints.
Support PM in evaluating contractor claims related to cost/schedule and provide recommendations.
2. Vendor Management
Lead weekly meetings with vendor and trade partner leadership to address open items, concerns, and execution risks.
3. Budget Management
Support upkeep of the Network Infrastructure Cost Report, including change orders and pending changes.
4. Schedule Management
Propose alternative schedules, identify concurrent work opportunities, and support acceleration strategies.
Ensure material vendors align with key milestones and are guided by schedule priorities.
Continuously review schedule details for risks and propose mitigation/recovery plans as needed.
Problem-solve portions of the work that fall behind schedule and provide transparent updates to the Client.
5. Project Reporting

Strong experience reviewing construction documents for accuracy and feasibility.
Demonstrated ability to lead internal/external cross-functional project teams.
Proven track record delivering large-scale projects on time, within budget, and to high safety and quality standards.
Vendor management experience and familiarity with fast-track design-build processes.
Strong skills in requirements gathering, prioritization, scheduling, and cost control.
Experience with RFP development, scheduling, cost engineering, forecasting, and procurement.
Deep understanding of fiber optic testing standards and equipment.
Knowledge of WBS and MasterFormat (Div 25) for network infrastructure.

The Montana State University Technology Transfer Office (TTO) has a need for a Senior Technology Manager. The TTO pursues three primary goals: Establishing collaborations and working relationships between industry and the research and creative areas of MSU. This includes pursuing industry sponsored research and collaborating on commercial opportunities.
Licensing the inventions of MSU faculty and researchers to industry and managing the relationship between the University and its licensee partners.
Serving the economic development arm of the University and working with Montana companies and entrepreneurs to leverage the resources of MSU to the benefit of Montana's economy.
The person in this position will be responsible for assisting with technology transfer efforts in identifying and managing MSU intellectual property, performing market research, licensing intellectual property to industry, and managing other MSU-industry research collaborative relationships, particularly but not exclusively in the areas of molecular and cell biology, genetics, biofilm, and bioengineering. The role will be performed on site in Bozeman, Montana, including frequent in-person interactions with MSU faculty and staff, so is not feasible to be done remotely.
Duties and Responsibilities
Identify and evaluate MSU technologies with commercial and licensing potential. Solicit and facilitate IP disclosures from MSU researchers and coordinate closely with the MSU TTO IP Manager to ensure all materials and information are obtained in a timely manner to support patent filing and prosecution deadlines.
Evaluate patent landscapes, competitive IP, and technology market opportunities. Select the most promising MSU technologies for licensing. Generate marketing collateral- typically, one-page technical marketing summaries of technologies available for license.
Perform market and industry research to identify high-potential industry customers for selected technologies, including building compelling business cases as needed. Engage target companies through proactive outreach-including email, phone, professional networking platforms such as LinkedIn, and conferences-to present licensing and research collaboration opportunities (and, where appropriate, other technology transfer opportunities).
Help MSU startups perform customer discovery, market research, develop technology commercialization plans, and perform other analysis needed to help MSU licensee companies find a path to translate MSU research innovations into real-world applications.
Draft, review, negotiate, edit, and track agreements such as Licensing Agreements, Research Collaboration Agreements, Inter-Institutional Agreements, and Sponsored Research Agreements.
Professionally communicate directly with federal, state, and private sponsors or collaborators in a timely and well-documented manner to complete contracts and agreements.
Establish effective working relationships with staff across the university and MSU extension to ensure that contract transactions are completed in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain and update records in the TTO database to ensure data is accurate and current.
List any secondary duties assigned to this position:
Assist with TTO communications and outreach efforts, including website and newsletter materials.
Occasional travel for industry conferences, meetings with federal sponsors, and the like.

Role Overview:
The Network Fiber Construction Manager (CM) works closely with the General Contractor PM and establishes an immediate, collaborative relationship with telecom and fiber vendors/subcontractors to ensure full understanding of system scope, drawings, materials, and project objectives. This role brings strong best practices across design, construction, quality, and commissioning to support seamless delivery through operational turnover.
Essential Duties
1. Construction Management
Acquire and maintain a clear understanding of the Client's network fiber infrastructure requirements regarding budget, quality, and schedule.
Advise the Client and issue notices as needed related to procedures and contract requirements.
Maintain three core construction management tools:
Action Item Log - track key actions, ownership, and deadlines.
Milestone Management Log - extract and manage critical schedule milestones.
Procurement Log - track OFCI/owner-furnished equipment, materials, and delivery timelines.
Build strong relationships with architects, engineers, consultants, and vendors to ensure alignment on goals, constraints, and project priorities.
Support phased growth into the facility (telecom equipment, layouts, expansions).
Partner with Superintendents to promote and maintain a strong safety culture and ensure vendors implement behavioral-based safety programs.
Review the master schedule for realistic lead times and advise on constraints.
Support PM in evaluating contractor claims related to cost/schedule and provide recommendations.
2. Vendor Management
Lead weekly meetings with vendor and trade partner leadership to address open items, concerns, and execution risks.
3. Budget Management
Support upkeep of the Network Infrastructure Cost Report, including change orders and pending changes.
4. Schedule Management
Propose alternative schedules, identify concurrent work opportunities, and support acceleration strategies.
Ensure material vendors align with key milestones and are guided by schedule priorities.
Continuously review schedule details for risks and propose mitigation/recovery plans as needed.
Problem-solve portions of the work that fall behind schedule and provide transparent updates to the Client.
5. Project Reporting
Report to the PM on any issues requiring Client decision-making related to design, cost, schedule, or program impacts.
Attend Client, vendor, and trade contractor meetings to maintain progress and alignment.
6. Construction Execution Phase
Provide regular onsite monitoring of construction work against schedule and established procedures.
Lead weekly progress meetings; generate and distribute meeting minutes and track all decisions.
Serve as the onsite point of contact for Client stakeholders and communicate pending changes, schedule impacts, and quality implications.
Facilitate onsite coordination and collaboration across all project team members.
Review vendor logistics plans and coordinate with GC site teams.
Moderate and resolve onsite conflicts and execution issues.
Monitor vendor systems for tracking progress and ensure timely completion as required.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of telecom/low-voltage/fiber-optic construction experience on data center projects.
Experience with: Large fiber counts, distributed support/cable & ladder tray, plug-and-play systems, single-mode & multi-mode horizontal distribution
Strong experience reviewing construction documents for accuracy and feasibility.
Demonstrated ability to lead internal/external cross-functional project teams.
Proven track record delivering large-scale projects on time, within budget, and to high safety and quality standards.
Vendor management experience and familiarity with fast-track design-build processes.
Strong skills in requirements gathering, prioritization, scheduling, and cost control.
Experience with RFP development, scheduling, cost engineering, forecasting, and procurement.
Deep understanding of fiber optic testing standards and equipment.
Knowledge of WBS and MasterFormat (Div 25) for network infrastructure.
Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to read drawings/specifications.
Solid understanding of contracts, scheduling, estimating, construction methods, and cost.
Proficiency in Google Workspace or MS Office; experience with CPM scheduling and tools such as Procore, Autodesk Cloud, BIM, CxAlloy, and Bluebeam.
RCDD preferred but not required.

Your role and responsibilities

You will be mainly accountable for:

* Serves as a project representative by building and maintaining effective relationships with customers as well as other local organizations such as authorities, banks, and suppliers to ensure their active support of field activities.
* Ensures detailed and up-to-date construction Health & Safety (H&S) plan is in place in respect of each work package, compliant with the ABB H&S plan.
* Ensures all on-site resources are properly trained on company health, safety and environment policy and proactively promotes health and safety considerations to project partners throughout the project.
* Empowered to suspend any activities on site (be it by ABB personnel or by subcontractors) in case of HSE violation and, if a situation arises, takes the necessary steps to ensure that ABB employees and other persons who may be present are not put at risk.
* Ensures correct handling, storage and installation of ABB-delivered equipment, coordinating on-site storage as well as shipment logistics to secure timely site delivery of equipment and material.
* Manages the sub-contractors on site hired by ABB to ensure necessary quality and progress achieved to meet delivery date and agreed standards.
* Controls project cost for the project site work, monitors actual spend against forecasts, and estimates final cost for the same. Manages the petty cash and has delegated authority for local purchasing within agreed limits.
* Ensures all documentation is modified and updated as necessary, the document handling system is maintained, and latest revisions are used for the construction work on site.
* Ensures (with HR support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed.
* Guides, motivates and develops direct and indirect reports within HR policies. Coordinates local accommodation, site facilities, office equipment, etc.
Qualifications for the role
* BS Engineering, BS Management required.
* 5+ Years Field service project experience with an electrical OEM, experience leading long term field assignments, and field quality assurance delivery focusing on procedures and implementation.
* Ability to travel 80-100% of the time within North America and ability to be away from home for extended periods.
* Strong understanding of site commissioning and oversight of engineered solutions including IEC61850 projects.
* Ability to develop and implement test, start-up, and commissioning plans with third party Cx agents.
* Experience leading start-up teams responsible for ABB and GE LV and MV electrical equipment, relays, and PRN networks preferred.
* Experience leading multidisciplinary site teams of electrical field engineers and technicians as well as third party contractors preferred.
