Key job responsibilities
The successful candidate will be operationally responsible for a Data Center. Some high-level responsibilities include:
- Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators
- Manage the performance of a diverse team(s) of data center operation professionals with varying skills across different locations
- Developing Career Paths for the employees and to make updates in our internal tools.
- Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels
- Ensure effective and efficient management of day to day data center operations including queue management, 7/24 shift arrangement and hardware logistics

The Data Center Global Services team is looking for exceptional individuals to join our Controls organization as a Controls Technician for Service & Construction of the Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) within Amazon data centers. The ideal candidate will possess technical background and experience in installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of field sensors, controllers, wiring, networking and programming associated with the industrial controls systems. Controls Technicians shall be responsible for participating in the installation, testing, troubleshooting and startup of equipment and controls system associated with the BMS and EPMS system deployment in the data centers. Key job responsibilities
· Primarily working in field at Data Center sites and supporting multiple sites under Deployment and/or Service.
· Perform point to point checkouts between field devices and controllers.
· Perform first-line diagnostics, troubleshooting and maintenance of instrumentation associated with the BMS and EPMS in data centers.
· Perform network configurations and communication testing between third party devices and controllers or servers.
· Configuration and calibration of sensors.
· Able to read and understand Electrical schematics, control panel drawings. Basic understanding of close loop controls, field sensors scaling, AND/OR functions typically performed by industrial controllers.
· Supervise low voltage electrical contractors who perform wiring and installation of field devices.
· Commissioning and systems level testing support.
· Provide red-lined drawings and recommendations based on field work and verify accuracy of as-built drawings.
· Assist in performing root cause analysis during testing and commissioning.
· Ensure all personnel on site utilize proper safety methodology.
· Work on-call and a rotating schedule when required and responds to after-hours emergencies.
· Perform basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, and task prioritization.

Functional Purpose

Requirements

Our client is seeking a highly professional, self-motivated datacenter systems administrator for our Regional Datacenter (RDC). The ideal candidate will have experience working in a software development environment with primary responsibilities listed below.
Responsibilities:
Server hardware management: Plan and implement server installations including planning, preparation, installation, cabling, LAN configuration, OS installation, and post configuration.
Provide hardware swap-outs for repairs, and interact with vendors for parts and service support, including over-seeing their onsite activities.
Deploy operating systems with homegrown automated deployment process.
Working closely with the facilities technical team, monitor and report incidents across all data center facilities equipment via daily walkdown of the environment.
Monitor and respond to hardware incidents across all data center IT equipment e.g. servers, filers, switches, and data backup libraries.
Participate in daily facility walk down and off-hours maintenance of IT systems as required for business.
Participate in on-call rotation one week a month. Datacenter audits and reporting, adhering to all data center operational processes and procedures.
Operating System troubleshooting (Windows / UNIX).
Manage inbound tasks via ticket tracking tool (ServiceNow), following standard ITIL Change and Incident Management processes.
Virtual machine deployment and management Scripting, process improvements, automation.
Deploy and configure new Linux systems.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent relative work experience.
2 years' experience in an IT maintenance & support operational role, including operating system installation and troubleshooting.
1+ year of experience working with virtual environments and deployments.
1+ year of experience with Linux (Redhat, CentOS, SLES, etc.) installation, troubleshooting, and support.
Ideal candidate will have scripting (BASH, Perl, PowerShell) and process automation experience.
