After School Program Assistants
Scope of Role:
Under the guidance of the After School ProgramCoordinator, the After School Program Assistant plays a key role in fostering relationships with students and leading activities within Cape Fear Academy's After School Program. Assistants are responsible for managing student activities in alignment with the mission, goals, and policies established by the school.
Major Responsibilities
Supervise and build relationships with a group of students grades PK - 8.
Mentor and model responsible behavior while leading children in the program.
Implement program activities designed by the After School ProgramCoordinator, ensuring they are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with Cape Fear Academy's standards.
Create and maintain a fun, safe, friendly, and challenging environment for students.
Serve as a mentor and model responsible behavior while guiding students in the program.
Foster relationship-building skills through all interactions and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and other members of the Cape Fear Academy community.
Follow Cape Fear Academy's policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency protocols.
Ensure that all spaces and equipment used in the program are well-maintained and left in a clean and organized condition each day.
Attend staff meetings and participate in training sessions.
Maintain clear, consistent, and effective communication regarding responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Previous experience working with children or teens is preferred but not required.

Specific certifications and/or training may be required.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Education: Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required.
Experience: Background in childhood education or daycare environment preferred. Experience working with children from ages PK-8 required.
Equivalency:

Working with other faculty and staff, the Academic Advisor provides support to help position students for success during and after their time at UNCW. Advisors work with students from diverse populations with different strengths and needs. The Academic Advisor will develop a detailed understanding of student-related policies and advising best practices in order to provide individualized support for students.
The Academic Advisor will use a holistic approach to address student needs by establishing strong relationships with students to guide them in exploring areas of study and resources necessary to be successful. In addition to managing a caseload, the Academic Advisor will also serve on taskforces, work with other university departments, and execute events to meet the needs of relevant student populations. Academic Advisors participate in orientation sessions and provide accurate academic information to support students as they make enrollment and curricular decisions. This position will report to an Academic Advising Coordinator or the Director of Academic Advising. This position relies heavily on effective communication via phone, video conference, email, and in-person; therefore, the Academic Advisor needs to be an excellent communicator, self-starter, quick learner, and able to work in a collaborative environment.

DECM also acts as the DAC representative on matters involving the State Property Office and State Building Commission. Our unified purpose is to provide architectural and engineering support, sustainability, efficiency, and resiliency planning, as well as construction and maintenance services. This ensures that all statewide Institutions and Facilities comply with building codes, regulations, and legislative mandates while promoting the agency's rehabilitation and reentry goals through offender job training in the construction and maintenance trades.

The DECM-Engineering team consists of experts in architectural and engineering design, property services, project management, and sustainability, efficiency, and resiliency (SE&R). Through valuable rehabilitation and training for offenders, we aim to improve recidivism rates. DECM-Construction undertakes construction, renovation, and major maintenance projects that involve longer periods of resource allocation with a focus on enhancing the department's infrastructure assets. DECM-Maintenance, which encompasses the Mountain Regional Yard, Piedmont Regional Yard, Coastal Regional Yard, and three Satellite Yards, provides essential plumbing, HVAC/R, and electrical preventative, prescriptive, and routine maintenance services to all Institutions and Facilities. What you'll bring (Basic Qualifications)
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant science degree:
* Gas Power: Mechanical, Power Systems, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering
* Grid Solutions: Electrical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering
* Wind: Engineering majors and business majors with demonstrated technical aptitude
* Electrification Software: Power Systems, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Software Engineering, or Computer Science
* Academic excellence: minimum 3.0 cumulative overall GPA out of 4.0 (without rounding)
* Prior intern/co-op or relevant work experience (maximum of 2 years work experience post university graduation) preferably in sales, sales support, or marketing in the energy industry
* Strong demonstrated interest in the energy industry.
* Spoken and written fluency in English.
* Geographic flexibility for rotation outside core site.

What You'll Do
Your care will make a huge difference in the lives of the people you will be helping. You will guide your team to provide case management to our clients and their families in collaboration with the MCOs to set personal plans to enable their daily living and social needs based on individual/family desires. You'll work with the family to coordinate the required services and support needed. The incumbent will provide and promote personal and program development, personnel management, and overall operational administration, including coordination of ongoing activities, to meet the established goals and objectives of the program. The incumbent will also develop annual budgets for each assigned cost center and provide for effective monitoring and financial management of the program.
Position Summary: This position is responsible for the supervision and monitoring of Alternative Family Living contractors as well as supervision of developmental disabilities and mental health supports for individuals receiving services within an assigned program. This position is responsible for ensuring best practices, supports based on the personal outcomes of the individual and/or family, and compliance with all state, federal, and agency standards as required for assigned services. This position has direct supervision of AFL contractors and Direct Service Providers.
