Position Overview
The Division of Family and Community Services is seeking to hire a Volunteer Program Coordinator to perform professional consultative and coordinative functions for the volunteerism programs in the Downstate regions. This position partners with organizations across the state to identify volunteer opportunities and recruit volunteers. It also consults and advises local governments and communities regarding the organization, development and integration of volunteer resources that meet the goals of the Volunteer Program; assists in developing volunteer resources by organizing and scheduling workshops and training; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with community leaders in the assigned geographical area to recruit, plan and utilize community volunteer resources; travels to plan and conduct special events such as the Governor's Volunteer Service Awards, National Service Projects, and other recognition events for volunteer programs; and assists in development of policies, regulations, methods, and standards for volunteer services programs.
Essential Functions
* Serves as the Volunteer Program Coordinator and performs professional consultative and coordinative functions for the volunteerism programs in the Downstate region.

Minimum Qualifications
* Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in the social sciences.
* Requires three (3) years of professional experience in volunteer services program management, community organization or management of a social services delivery program.
Preferred Qualifications
* Two (2) years of professional experience planning training, recognition, and conference events for 200+ people for a public or private organization.
* Two years of professional experience working in volunteer recruitment and coordinating.
* Two (2) years of professional experience managing volunteers or implementing a national service program.
* Two (2) years of professional experience developing, conducting, and executing logistic plans for training and education activities.
* Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing social media platforms to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships to advance volunteerism and service throughout Illinois.
Conditions of Employment
* Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.

Work Environment
Work is largely performed in the Illinois Capitol Complex in Springfield, Illinois which is open to the public. Security for the Capitol Complex is provided by the Illinois Secretary of State Police.
The working environment can be noisy, and the building can be congested with constituents, lobbyists, tour groups, and demonstrators.
The person in this position needs to be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time, as well as to move about the Capitol complex as necessary.
The person in this position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
The person in this position frequently communicates with staff, legislators, lobbyists, and members of the public, and must be able to professionally exchange accurate information in these situations.
Typical work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on non-session days. Session day hours are subject to change based on the legislative schedule.

Maintain proper levels of food, drinks, and other items needed for efficient sales and operation
Assist in developing schedules for each of the food and beverage outlets based on business volume and staff availability
Monitor the condition of the kitchen to ensure that it is clean, safe, and comfortable for guests
Responsible for closing, restocking, and cleaning of all food and beverage outlets during events
Ensure all labor laws are meet within the concession stands
Assist with event catering needs. i.e.- communication, sales, and setup
Ensure the venue is operating within all food and beverage health codes, proper food preparation, cooking guidelines and sanitation requirements
Assist with and manage all aspects of the Food and Beverage inventory including executing weekly/monthly inventories, food ordering, invoicing, pricing and cost controls
Adhere to all cash handling policies to ensure the highest possible integrity of our cash flow is managed and achieved
Maintain a level of personal and professional integrity as a representative of Rocky Top Sports World community we represent the City of Gatlinburg and the County of Sevier

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
TN Food Certification Permit within 90 days of hire
Ability to operate all kitchen equipment
Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and POS Systems
Demonstrated ability to teach cash handling, POS operation, food safety and handling guidelines
Willingness to engage in continuing education to meet all of the requirements of this position

The person in this position needs to be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time, as well as to move about the Capitol complex as necessary.
The person in this position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
The person in this position frequently communicates with staff, legislators, lobbyists, and members of the public, and must be able to professionally exchange accurate information in these situations.
