DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Geoscience Trainee, you will participate in a one-year training period learning the job duties of a Geoscientist. You will gain experience analyzing and resolving hydrogeologic program issues through a detailed review of data in both field and office settings in support of the Environmental Cleanup Program. Work includes administration of the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act, relevant portions of the Land Recycling and Environmental Remediation Standards Act, the Storage Tank and Spill Prevention Act, the Pennsylvania Clean Streams Law and the Solid Waste Management regulations.
Specific duties include developing and conducting hydrogeologic investigations in response to groundwater and soil contamination complaints, pollution incidents, permit applications, and activities, which have a potential to pollute groundwater resources. You will learn how to resolve hydrogeologic situations and unique groundwater pollution problems, as well as identify sources of groundwater contamination and approving necessary remedial measures for all assigned groundwater pollution cases. You will further learn the process for compiling hydrogeologic and geologic data, performing hydrogeologic mapping through field and laboratory investigations, and preparing hydrogeologic reports.

Responsibilities and Duties

Work with Personal and Commercial Lines Underwriting to identify any risk related issues.
Maintain good relationships with agents, policyholders, and all company personnel.

Starting Pay: The pay range for this position is $60,000 annually. The specific offer will vary based on an applicant's education, qualifications, professional experience, skills, abilities, and any applicable designations/certifications. The posted pay range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience. The pay range may also be adjusted based on an applicant's geographic location.
The base pay is just one component of Donegal's total compensation package for employees. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.

The Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) Intern will support site-level and cross-functional initiatives in a robust ISO 14001 and 45001 Environmental, Occupational, Health & Safety (EOH&S) Management System to ensure regulatory compliance, safe workplace standards, and continuous improvement of sustainability practices.
This internship provides hands-on experience in a facility that includes Manufacturing, Research & Development, and New Product Innovation environments. With progressive responsibility throughout the summer, Internship candidates will be exposed to how EHS&S programs protect people, the environment, and business operations within a global organization.
Responsibilities
Health & Safety
Participate in facility safety inspections, Machine Guarding Assessments and other related risk assessments, and Management of Change processes.
Assist with updating Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, chemical inventories, and PPE assessments.
Observe and document production, R&D, and NPI processes to identify potential EHS opportunities for improvement or enhancement.
Support ergonomic assessments and corrective action implementation.
Environmental Compliance & Sustainability
Assist with environmental reporting, audits, and data collection (waste, water usage, energy consumption, emissions).
Support sustainability initiatives tied to recycling programs, resource efficiency, and environmental impact reduction.
Help maintain environmental records and documentation for regulatory and corporate reporting.
Training & Program Development
Help develop safety training materials, presentations, and toolbox talks.
Assist with updating and communicating EHS&S policies, signage, and employee communication materials.
Coordinate and track employee participation in training programs.
Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
Analyze EHS&S data to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
Cultivate leading indicators to help direct future EHS&S initiatives.
Support special projects assigned by the EHS&S Manager.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in:
Occupational Safety & Environmental Health or Safety Sciences

Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Strong interest in EHS-related regulations, workplace safety, and sustainability.
