Product Branding & Marketing Lead Specialist
Hitachi Astemo Ohio Manufacturing
Marketing coordinator job in Farmington Hills, MI
The product branding & marketing lead will own this role end‑to‑end - setting direction, standards, and priorities - while managing an external marketing and PR firm to deliver high‑quality, on‑brand work. Day‑to‑day, you will be the primary interface for that firm (briefs, decision frameworks, approvals, timelines, budgets, QA) and work closely with our internal team (product, engineering, test, manufacturing, sales, leadership) to keep everyone aligned and moving. You are the steward of the Showa design language, ensuring adherence and making principled adaptations when engineering or market realities require them. While this is as much a management role as it is about output, expect to roll up your sleeves - jumping into briefs, edits, asset reviews, content writing, and on‑site activations - to help the team unblock and deliver on compressed timelines.
Operate with clarity and urgency in a fast, ambiguous environment. Be decisively collaborative - set expectations, make trade‑offs, prototype quickly, document choices, and close loops. Maintain brand integrity and compliance while doing what it takes to help the team deliver. Most importantly, this individual must be able to contribute to a fun and productive environment, maintain a positive attitude, and develop strong working relationships with colleagues and team members.
This position potentially requires extensive field support and will be required to support activity at local customer locations including overseas. When not travelling, this is a full onsite position with flexible work schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain the brand system: visual identity, tone of voice, messaging pillars, design language standards, and usage guidelines across all touchpoints.
Adhere to and adapt the Showa design language: document rationale for deviations; propose updates backed by data, usability findings, and stakeholder input.
Lead brand architecture and naming conventions; ensure clarity, consistency, and scalability without over‑fragmentation.
Manage the external partners; set SOWs, deliverables, timelines, budgets, and acceptance criteria; track status and risks.
Write clear briefs and decision rubrics; facilitate reviews; provide actionable feedback; approve or redirect work based on standards and objectives.
Enforce quality assurance and keep a structured change log from brief to release.
Coordinate the broader vendor ecosystem (creative, media, web, PR, events, photo/video); escalate blockers and ensure issue closure to help the team maintain momentum.
Establish KPIs (awareness, consideration, engagement quality, share of voice, content effectiveness); run test‑and‑learn cycles and optimize.
Commission/analyze market research, user testing, and competitive audits to inform positioning and creative choices.
Maintain feedback loops with sales/support to capture field insights and convert them into content/tool improvements.
Work closely with engineering, vehicle integration, and test teams to ensure marketing claims are accurate and validated.
Support manufacturing/supply chain on packaging and labeling that fit operational constraints while staying on‑brand.
Partner with sales on channel needs and customer presentations; convert product benefits into clear, buyer‑relevant messaging.
Management + Maker: While you manage direction and partners, expect to jump in - editing copy, adjusting layouts, refining briefs, scrubbing file structures, or attending activations - to help the team unblock and deliver.
Qualifications
Expert knowledge and understanding of the relation between shock performance and vehicle dynamics
Expert knowledge of shock fundamentals, concepts, and performance
Expert knowledge of vehicle dynamics and objective/subjective vehicle evaluation
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Must be highly detail oriented and organized, and able to apply work methods to maximize efficiency and minimize errors.
Must be a self-starter that can be counted on to achieve goals on time and with minimal supervision.
CAD software experience is a plus
Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly and apply them to daily work.
Able to work effectively and accurately amidst distractions.
Excellent work ethics and teamwork skills
Hands-on and self-motivated
Ability to travel and work on an international basis for 2-3-week periods with little or no support.
Education: Degree in marketing or relevant industry experience with 10+ years in the shock industry
Job level determined by various factors such as organization size, responsibility, career stage, and capabilities
Working Conditions:
Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Travel: Domestic and international travel may be required as needed, 2- 3 week periods. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required.
Work Environment: Primarily in a professional business office with exposure to testing areas and periodic exposure to manufacturing areas.
Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) - Qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, identity, disability, protected veteran status and national origin.
At Astemo, we're challenging the status quo with the power of diversity, inclusion, and collaboration.
